Pludo STEM Kit Pendulum Play Kit – DIY Science Experiment Kit for Kids 8–11 | Grade 3–5 Motion & Gravity Model

Spark a love for science and hands-on discovery with the Pludo STEM Kit Pendulum Play Kit – DIY Science Experiment Kit for Kids 8–11, Grade 3–5 Motion & Gravity Model. This engaging kit allows children to build and experiment with their own working pendulum, helping them understand how motion, gravity, and rhythmic movement work in the real world.

Designed for curious young learners, this kit blends play with learning to make concepts like oscillation, time measurement, and balance more tangible. Whether at home or in a classroom, the Pendulum Play Kit encourages exploration, observation, and a deeper understanding of everyday physics.

As both a science toy and an interactive learning tool, it strengthens foundational STEM skills while making the learning journey fun, memorable, and full of “aha!” moments.

The Principles of Pendulum Play Kit

Definition & Physical Model: A pendulum is a device that can produce a reciprocating swing, an ideal physical model.

Components of the Pendulum: It consists of an idealized pendulum ball and cycloid. The cycloid is provided by a thin wire that does not have a mass and is not stretchable; the pendulum ball has a high density, and the radius of the ball is much smaller than length of the cycloid, so that the pendulum ball can be regarded as a particle, and the cycloid and the pendulum ball form a pendulum.

Simple Pendulum Mechanics: Under the condition that the deflection angle is less than 10 °, the period of the simple pendulum has nothing to do with the amplitude and the mass of the pendulum ball, and is only related to the length of the pendulum and the acceleration of gravity.

Amplitude Effects: If the angle of vibration is greater than 10 °, the period of vibration will increase with the increase of amplitude, and it will not become a pendulum.

Compound Pendulum: If the size of the pendulum ball is quite large, the mass of the rope can not be ignored, it becomes a compound pendulum, and the period is related to the size of the pendulum ball.

Practical Application: By measuring the length and period of the pendulum, the local acceleration of gravity can be calculated.

What Your Child Will Learn

• Discover how gravity keeps a pendulum in motion and creates rhythmic swings.

• Understand oscillation, balance, time periods, and how changing lengths affect motion.

• Build problem-solving skills, fine motor coordination, and logical reasoning through hands-on assembly.

• Observe real-world physics by experimenting with different swing speeds and amplitudes.

• Boost curiosity while connecting simple experiments to everyday phenomena like clocks and playground swings.

Educational Outcomes

Physics of Motion: Learn how gravitational pull and kinetic energy create repetitive motion.

Oscillation Concepts: Explore how pendulums swing and what factors affect their speed.

STEM Skill Development: Strengthen analytical thinking, experimentation, and scientific reasoning.

Real-World Relevance: Understand the science behind clocks, swings, metronomes, and more.

Hands-On Learning: Encourages active participation and boosts confidence in building and testing a model.

💡 Did You Know?
Pendulums were once used in ancient timekeeping devices, and the same swinging motion your child explores in this kit is what made early clocks incredibly accurate!
